50 force overheated...

I was running my boat on the weekend and off goes the overheat buzzer. I removed the thermostat on the water and let the motor cool before restarting. No go for the restart. justa wouldnt start. used the trolling motor to get back in.
Did a compression test and have 125psi in the upper + 90 in the lower cylinder. Is this a head gasket problem? (could be piston too). I can now get the motor started but sounds really "weak" and wants to stall.
Any suggestions? What should i do?

I would pull the head to check the gasket. You can also check the top of the pistons while the head is off.

Would it be a wise choice to replace the piston rings while i have the head off?
