50 horse merc

Bidding on a aluminum 17 ft bass boat with a 50 horse clasic merc. Is this engine going to plane out ok. Seems to me the aluminum boat should be lighter than a fiber. Am i wrong?

Should work fine with a 50, but it won't pin your ears back...
