50 hp Johnson Powerhead Swap

I have a '72 Johnson 50 hp (electric shift) with a blown piston. I've located a '74 Johnson 50hp (cable shift). Will the '74 powerhead bolt up to the '72?

Yes. Just remove any manual shift lingage from the 74' block that may come with it if your keeping the electric shift. Otta bolt right up.

With OBJ's help, I went ahead and purchased the '74 motor. We'll see how it checks out and will either swap the '74 powerhead to the '72 or get a manual shift control and cables to operate the '74 intact. Thanks for the assistance.
