50 hp johnson

have a 50hp johnson, does fine until planes out then it starts surging. have had carbs rebuilt, new fuel filter, stator, gasline and tank.<br />any suggestions would be helpful.

i have a 50 hp evinrude almost the same situation, rebuilt carbs,new fuel lines etc... soemone told me i have a vacume leak in my fuel system some where. i hope this is of soem help. my motors a 1990 tracker

Sounds like you might have a small piece of junk in the high speed jet still. Do you have a fuel filter? If not put one in line.

Jlemley..... If that surge is sort of a slow surge downwards in rpms, then a slow upwards climb in rpms, then a repeat of that condition over and over, It would be related to a fuel condition. This is usually caused by a fuel/air leak at some point between the fuel pump and the fuel supply.
