Long story sort I switched my polarities on my battery terminals, and now no spark. It is not a in line fuse or breaker. Was wondering if there was anyway to pin down what I blew, the trigger, stator or coil. Didn't want to just start buying part cause of the coast? Any info would be nice on this subject.

The trigger, stator and coils should be fine. Check the voltage rectifier/regulator

you will need to post your model number. Regulators changed over the years.

I dont know the test procedure for testing a fried rectifier or regulator on a force. 99.98% chance it fried when trying to connect battery cables backwards Click on the link and order part 12 also check the circuit breaker part number 34.

Thanks for the info. When I went out and looked at the part number I seen they were not the same. Then I look at my title and seen that the motor is a 1989 and not a 86. Do you still think that it is the rectifier? And could you get me a parts list for that? I thank you for the information you have gave me and am sorry for the wrong info the first time.

The rectifier is most likely shot, but it should run, they usually do, even it the rectifier is blown. But the battery will not charge, and the tach will probably not work.

You will need to trouble shoot the ignition system to see why it will not produce spark. The best way to do this is to buy a Clymer Force repair manual, and follow the step by step in the trouble shooting section, and the ignition section.

Are you sure the safety kill switch was not accidentally tripped? BTDT.

Here is where you can check for part numbers. These are the current part numbers, which may differ from the originals. Some of these parts are available from after market suppliers here on the iboats site, so check them out if you need to order any parts.
