I am looking at upgrading my motor from a 20 hp longshaft johnson to a 50 or 60 hp.
The boat is rated for a 50 hp but I was wondering how much extra weight a 60 would be. Would my transom be strong enough to handle the extra weight? The boat is a 1986 Crestliner 16 ft Commander II . Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Generally there is no difference from the weight of a 50 to a 60 hp the difference is in the cylinder bore, the only thing I would watch is handling the horsepower.
