50hp force charging system

I recently purchased a 17 ft openbow that has a 1988 50 hp force engine that runs and operates very well. However the charging system is charging at 16.2 volts at the battery.I thought it should charge about the same as an auto, 13.5 volts or so. Will operating at this high rate of charge do any damage to the system? Do I have a rectifier problem? Thanks for any help,Mert [/LIST][/LIST][/LIST]

Mert<br /><br />As much as I don't like it, 16.2v would be considered normal for a unregulated charging system. It will result in lots of water loss, so keep checking and adding water to the battery as needed.
