1988 model engine, lots of work done thus far and plenty of problems found and precluded thanks to this forum.

I finally got it all back together and running last weekend, but when I got back hom ethe lower unit oil was very milky, in fact it was cavitating, and foaming out of the gear case into the mid housing, and dripping off on e of the bolts from teh outside.

I removed and cleaned the housing and then filled it with water, and held it at every angle I could think of for about an hour and saw No leakage.

how do I pressure or vac test?

Ive got a mighty vac pump, but Im not sure how or where to connect and what numbers to pull before I deform a seal, if that hasnt already happended.

thanks!

hi oz are you using the right oil in the gearcase?
I wouldnt pressure or vacuume it more then 8psi at a guess, connect it to the oil fill hole.I would suspect something is wrong at the input shaft seal under the waterpump.
gud luk
