Clad, the black stuff IS the fuel pump..Well, at least, the diaphram of it. It's time to buy a rebuild kit for your fuel pump. Alcohol-enriched gas eats them,and the chunks end-up in the carb. <br />And he is right about these engines "Cackling" in the driveway, when the throttle is run-up,and not in gear.They tend to stay there.<br />One other thing, stay close by when flushing after a trip.Mine ran-off on it's own from carbon glowing in the cylinders,made it diesel...Scared me to death,beacause the ignition key wouldn't kill it,and throttle position had no effect.<br />If it ever does this, spray some decarb down it's throat.
