I recently bought a boat with a 50 hp Force engine. The owner had not used the boat for about 6 months and told me it was working fine the last time used. The engine looks in good condition but it is not spitting out water through the engne. I was told to check the impeller and it looks like it is in good condition. What else can it be? can anyone help?   Thanks in advance.

If as you say the impellor is good, AND the impellor is keyed to the shaft (ie... turns with the with the engine main shaft), it may just be that the passageways are blocked with ? (sand, mud, corrosion, or ???) I'd try flushing the system backwards, using the "pump bleeder hole" with a fitting made up to fit on your garden hose, to see if you aren't able to get it to flow backwards first.

Manix:

Spiders love to plug up the holes with webs/nests. Try some thin wire and stuff it up there and pull it out.

Hope that helps.

Craig :)

Also, note that this engine does not have a telltale persay. It does have two exaust ports halfway up the leg, and these should emitt a sputter-type spray. As long as it is doing this, the cooling system is fine.
