Compression? Timing correct? Describe ran for a minute better.

hello, she ran ok when I first got her for a short while, so I cleaned/replaced the fuel lines and carb, the comp, is good in both cyls, put in new plugs, now turns over fine but wont start, she's getting fuel and spark,,,,,

The only thing it could possibly be is if the fuel is junk or something is stuck in the reed valves. I once had a little yamaha I bought new, a small plastic piece of the choke broke off and got stuck in reed valve. Warranty didn't cover it since I told the dealer I had taken the carb off to make sure it was ok. Long story, last time I buy a new motor!

Double check you have not switched the plug wires. After validating the plug wires, get a spray bottle and fill it with oil-gas mix and then have someone crank her over while you spray a little of fuel mix into the carb. If it sneezes it is fuel problem. If it doesn't, it is electrical problem. This is with the assumption you have good compression as you contended.

He also said he had spark and no fuel problems. Would still fire if plug wires crossed. Doesn't leave many options does it?

also take the plug out and crank it with the throttle open to make sure you have fuel coming out the plug holes.

thanx guys, yes it would still at least try to run with plug wires crossed, they are not, I have also sprayed 50:1 fresh fuel into the carb while cranking it over,,,,, how can a motor with fuel... compression.... spark..... not fire... not even pop... i'm at a loss,,,,

Timing is suspect. Something about 27* didn't sit well.

So what exactly was your compression reading?

Compression, air/fuelmix and spark.... yes it should fire. BUT the spark must come in right time.
Shared flywheelkey?
I do not really know how the 94 50Hp is . Have only worked with 50Hp 1990 and earlier, but you should be able to check the TDC.
Does the TDC line up with the mark when #1 cyl. is at top?
If not the flywheelkey is shared.

Very interesting, keep us posted. On a 2 stroke I really think it should fire as long as there is some spark sometime. But maybe im wrong.

I would still check the reed valves. This is also a related problem on old OMCs when the leaf plates dry up when a motor sits a long time.

If it ran for a minute?? Then wouldn't restart?
Check for a broken flywheel key?
You following the right starting procedures?
Squeezie, then fast idle.
Then turn key and hold the key in as it turns over?
The choke/enricher won't work unless it's held in?
Compression, spark and no fire? Flywheel key?
Possible the enricher is flooding the plugs? You'd get some firing and then die out?Just guessing on that one?

Another long shot, and from your description of it running and now won't start, I'm not sure if you are experiencing the same as I did with my 1994 Force 50. Try putting the old spark plugs (blackened) back in and see if it will run. If it runs well, check out my thread from the spring of this year. Good luck.
