HI all, I am new to these forums and i have a bit of a problem with my yamaha f50t 2000 model 50 hp four stroke outboard.

the problem started a couple of months ago when it decided to idle rough when cold, and at times when i put it into gear it would just die. it got to the point that i had to use the fast idle lever and quickly dis-engage it and put it in gear. anyway i replaced the spark plugs and i have a water seperator racor fuel filter which i replaced and that didnt fix the problem. i adjusted the idle and it fixed this problem but now i have a huge dead spot from about 1200 rpm to 2000 rpm.

i just had the gearbox serviced and water pump replaced and i asked the mechanic for the correct idle screw, he pointed out the one that i adjusted.

i have since adjusted the idle screw down a bit and the dead spot is slightly less but still there.

any help would be great, thanks.

i forgot to mention. i have an under floor fuel tank. i use normal unleaded fuel. the fuel isnt that old. but i have not completely emptied the tank either (only bought the boat 8 months ago).

also would it be worth putting a fuel system cleaner in the next time i fill up?
