50hp merc question

i used got a used boat with a 82 merc 50hp ob. my question is this, i took it out fot the first time yesterday, it started easy enough and idled fine , but when i pushed the lever forward and down till it stopped, there was no speed or rpm. i assume that that cable must have a adjustment. is it in the control box out under engine cover? thanks, for your time

First off take the cover off and see if anything moves inder the cover, might just be a broken cable.

cover off moved throttle lever and there is movement in the linkeage there

i didnt give enough info at the start. when you shove lever forward it does accelerate but barely. its a 14.5 ft boat with a 50 hp merc and i estimate i was traveling like 8 mph
