Howdy, Lv2fish.

How did you prove that it has fuel and spark?

Did you get a hot, blue, 1/2 to 3/4" arc from each plug wire to the block?

Did you spray fuel mix into the carb throat(s)?

What does it do instead of start?

Let us know.

Re: 50hp Mercury troubles

I bet the low-speed coils on the stator are gone. If so, the motor'll run fine above 1000-1500 rpm, but will die immediately below that. I've had them where I can rope start them (pulling real fast), when the electric start won't get them to fire. If I remember right, they'll show spark on the starter but it turns out to be not enough to fire the motor.

Easy to test with an ohm-meter. Go to Rapair, Inc's website and download their 200 page catalog .pdf for instructions (if you don't have a manual). Bit of a shot in the dark, but I bet you're low-speed side on the stator is burned out (open circuit).

We pulled the plugs out one at a time and there was spark we also shot fuel mixture into the carbs and it will just turn over. When it died it started kinda hard ran for 30 seconds then quit and now you can crank on it till your blue in the face and it wont do nothing not even act like it wants to run thanks guys George
