wondering if my '75 50hp evinrude's powerhead will fit on this motor's bottom half?

I was going to put my new 50 on a jackplate on my 15" transom boat...but this would be better...if it would work. they look similar to me, but you know what that guess is worth :)

oh yeah, the shorty lower half has part number E40ECD

give us model numbers of all the motors. and what you are wanting to do with each one. question is a little confusing. you can also compare parts here. http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=bf6ad09c53cead335fcfd8a6471c0f7f

thanks td, i'll try to clarify. i own '75 rude 50hp with a 20" shaft, part number 50573b. i want it to be a 15" shaft, and i found a parts motor, E40ECD, which i think is an '86 evinrude 40, 15" shaft. what i want to know is, can i put my '75 50hp powerhead on this 15" motor, so i can have essentially, a 15", 50hp motor?
