50hp timing issues

I have a 1981 50 horse that has some major timing issues how do you go about setting the timing on this motor? i have access to a timing light and can check it, and i can call a local repair shop to get the numbers for it i just dont know how to go about setting it. can anyone help??? pics would be very helpful as well

check out the "sticky" files at the top of the forum... there are some great posts on how to do alot of stuff..

tashasdady posted something on setting up WOT timing without having to be in the water and running it.. i believe joe reeves was the original author...take a peek its good info
