Been reading the posts about problems with removing things that are attached with 3M 5200. I'm starting to think about putting a platform in the bow of my aluminum skiff. Some brackets (above waterline) will be necessary. I've been thinking pop rivets to fasten them, but, just wondering - what about using 5200 to fasten the brackets?
Load on the brackets would be almost all shear. The "V" of the hull would provide additional support for the platform. Use of the platform would be to provide storage under and on top and as a step when launching and retrieving (probably too tippy for use as a casting platform).
What do you think?
