Are there any more other carbs that bolt on to the model 7518 that may give a little extra oomph?

I've heard of many models that are basically the same units, but have different spec'd parts that make it a 7.5, 10, 15 etc.

I thought doing something like this for my 7.5 would be a fun winter diversion?

Thoughts for or against? Any other tips?

Thanks!

Best way to get more oomph is to buy a Sportwin/QD ;)

Carb swap will only make it run worse, sorry.

The 7.5 won't take much abuse. It's a good little motor, but if you try to tweak it, you're more than likely going to end up with a good looking pile of scrap aluminum. It has aluminum rods with bronze bearings - not conducive to high revving applications. As noted by HighTrim - if you want more power, get a bigger motor.

you guys are right, its performance is acceptable for its specs. I really didnt know if it could even be done. My initial outlay was right $100 and with another $24, it runs good... I thought if it could be done with a high enough expectation of output vs risk of toast that i might give it a go. with the 2 good replies, i will start checking craigs list for a 15hp that's cheap and needs a little tlc to spruce-her-up and give another oldie some good golden years on the lake.

Thanks again!
