I have a 55 hp Chrysler (I just bought the thing). It had old gas in it but I tried it out anyway (Gas didn't smell bad). The motor ran ok, ran good at a low idle, but when I cranked up the throttle or "Hit it", very little acceleration happened. I dont have a tach, but the RPMS were not enough to get the boat to plane out (maybe 15 mph. I tried mixing in new gas/oil, but the effects were minimal if any. What could this be? It seems to be getting good spark/compression, although I have not tested either. Could it be that the carb/jets need a good cleaning? How hard a job is this? Doesn't look too bad to me. Please help, as my kids ant to go tubing etc, and they can't right now.<br /><br />Thanks in advance <br />Brad Amy
