hello i have a 55 hp chrysler outboard model#555hc serial#6403
the problem i'm having is keeping my battery charged, i replaced with a new battery first time out with boat, trolled for about an hour stalled a few times then booted a few rounds wide open slowed down started trolling and stalled went to start battery dead , can anyone please tell me what my problem could be ?? thank you in advance.

Hi,new to forum but had same problem with my 86 Force 50.You need to check AC output from the stator to rectifier.Mine had 1 volt.Removed flywheel and found broken wire in stator winding.I bared both ends of wire and installed a butt connector and sealed it.Also made sure it did not interfere with flywheel .Worked like a champ and still holding up after numerous times on the lake.Not sure also if the 55's had the square voltage rectifier mounted on the block.You can check the with the diode setting on a voltmeter,or go to Radio Shack and get their 25A rectifier for 4 bucks and put it in.Hope this helps,Brad
