I have a 1955 mercury mark 6 I can't seem to keep running. It won't idle at all and the only time it does run, is when it is at full throttle but stalls after about a min. or two. Changed the primer bulb out but still does not change. What would cause this?

Hi Jab<br />So your super silent six won't run. The first thing to do is check compression. Then check spark. Ok, This sounds like a fuel problem. Check that the tank is vented, check the fuel line connector. Check to see if fuel pump is working. Then remove the carb, disassemble it and clean it. You my have a bit of a challenge to find a manual that covers this model. I think intermec offers one. Might check the library for a copy. I may have some info on this guy. It's guaranteed to be in tough shape, I don't know how well it will send.
