OK here it goes. Start it up and runs for a second, and i mean one second. The carb seems real clean, no adjustment screw on it. Compression is good, plugs look perfect. I can rev the motor up and it runs fine. It's getting fuel. Now i guess i need to pull the fly wheel and check the point gap? OK how do you actually check timming on a outboard.

Also anyone have the lower unit housing they will part with. I dont need gears or anything. Mine has a crak in it. Thanks. :D

Timing is check just as it is on an auto. (pickup on plug wire #1, return on plug #1, power (if powered type timing light). But the timing rarely moves on these engines, and will usually track thru the entire power band, unless it has been moved.

Before pulling the flywheel, check the compression, as it is a symptom of low compression also.
