I own a 1968 55hp Chrysler Sea King. Model #VWB27955A; Serial #76X10105.

I am looking at another 55hp Chrylser Sea King for parts. There is no manual. It looks identical to the one I own. Model #VWB27256; Serial 20385.

Can a year be determined for this motor by the model and serial number alone?
Would it be compatible with my motor?

Thanks.

Brusay

Re: 55hp Chrysler Sea King

Hi Brusay
According to my list your motor is a 1967 model. The other motor is a 1972 model. If your motor is a reg,(or shortshaft) then the 1972 would be a long shaft model. Model#s ending with 55 would be short shafts, model#s ending with 56 would be long shafts. I'm sure most engine parts would fit between the two. How ever there might be a difference in the ignition systems. Your motor may have the point system and the 72 may have an electronic system. Sorry I can't confirm this for for you. I don't have parts manuals for either unit. Lets hope one of the other fellows can tell us for sure.
