Update on this project....Guys I reset the coils...I have learned what will work on one motor may not on another,I did have to set them in farther on the bosses to get the clearence the flywheel needed.Trial and error I reckon, she started with great ease and I was delighted to see the water pumping and I let it run about a third throttle since according to PO it has not in 12 years.
I cut the motor to run some errands and when I started her back up I could tell it was only firing on one cylinder.Everything is new under the flywheel, rebuilt carb, and water pump,so I checked compression, top jug does not hold AT ALL!
What are the chances of a head gasket failing to do its job after sitting for that long? and what am I getting into by pulling the head? What should I be looking for?
Thanks.

With no compression on a cylinder, you have to pull the head to see what happened.
Not to hard to pull the head, do you have a manual?

Pull the head and inspect the gasket and the cylinder.

The coils should be set to the bosses...wondering if the the armature plate was replaced using a different part number?? BUt if it now works...leave it I guess. Check it out if it gives you more issues latter on.

Yup...time to pull the head.

Remove the spark plugs and pull it over while looking into the cylinder. Is the piston moving? If it is not, the connecting rod snapped on you. If it is still moving, hopefully you simply have head gasket issues like you think. If it is not the head gasket, the cylinder will be ugly enough that you will know what happened.

I appreciate the input and will post updates....it has rained here today and thats good ...I needed to step out of that,I have been keeping a photo journal of this and will post when I am done.I know yall like pics.
The pressure jumps up to around 75 PSI when I spin the motor with the starter then falls like a dern rock when I stop. The pressures when I started were 95 and 94 respectivly.
