57 MERC Mark 10 fuel problem

Having fuel problem. 2 screws on front of carb, accessible via holes through cover. 1 center and lower, other right and a couple inches higher from center one. Which is air, which is fuel and what makes this motor happy. Is there anything esle to check. Father got a new old motor and i can't keep it running, please help, THANKS, GENE

The lower one is the main jet high speed adjustment, and the other one is an idle air bleed/ mixture screw. <br /><br />Besides a clean and adjusted carburator, a freshly serviced magneto can make a lot of difference.
