58 seahorse 35 worth buying? Pics.

Hey guys I came across a 58 seahorse 35hp outboard on cl the guy wants about $100 but he knows nothing about it except its not locked. I noticed its missing the tiller handle and I have looked but cannot find one. Is this worth buying? Well I can't post pics on my phone I guess. I will when I get off work. What do you think in the meantime?

I had one of those back in the day. Pretty good ol' motor. Simple enough to work on and parts are available with a little research. Heavy though. I always said they should sell them by the pound. You really can't lose for 100 bucks.

You should be able to find a tiller handle at one of the outboard salvage yards listed in the Engine FAQs forum.

As Oldcat said, hard to lose for a C note.

I'd be all over it. They're great motors and I love the look of the '58 models.

try to find a handle at a salvage yard.i had a 1956 tiller and needed a handle for it.i believe I used the handle off of a 1970 33hp evinrude ,all I had to do was file a tiny bit of metal off of it to make it close properly and it was still perfectly ok for the 33 later .
