Brought this home today. Too tired to tinker with it much after getting home. Appears to be complete. Hopefully this will be powering the '56 Rocket later next year.

Re: '58 Super Seahorse

Finally got a chance to tinker with the new motor. Other than the front door and the two plastic emblems being cracked, the hood is in really good shape. The pull rope assembly case is cracked as is the front plate of the carb. A couple of clips missing along with the hood seal. Other than that, seems to be in pretty good shape. Found a fella about 3 hours away with the same motor that he's parting out and other than the emblems, he has everything I need. That will have to be next week as it's back to work tomorrow.

Sweet outboard dude! I'm kinda hunting for a decent '59-ish seahorse 10 like the one we had in the family at the cottage many moons ago

Does it have a dual line pressure tank, or a single line w/ fuel pump?

Nice find. I bet you're going to really appreciate having electric start. I can't see any signs of wear on that prop. Did you check compression and spark yet?

Tx, it has a single line/fuel pump setup.

It has compression, Jasper, just haven't had a chance to put a guage to it yet. I spent most of what time I had taking inventory of what might be broken or missing. The prop, while being straight, has some ugly leading edges that will probably have to be addressed.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a '58 Super Seahorse and a Super Quiet? Or are they one in the same?

Super Seahorse is the Super Quiet. '58 was the first year for the Super Quiet body and also the last year of the standard single wall 35's '59, the 35's were all Super Quiets. I believe the "Super Seahorse" name was dropped about 60 or 61, but the Super Quiet body was in production throughout the 60's on the 40hp's and the V-4 models. By 68, big motors started going through redesigning stages to the newer sleeker designs.
