59 gale 35, should water be coming out of engine when bucket testing without prop?

hello
i just got my 1959 gale 35 hp sovereign fired up, i see bubbles coming out of can its sitting in(from bottom of motor), but nothing near top of motor,i see 2 holes that i can feel air coming out of, i removed the prop, but i think i should still see water water coming out of these 2 holes at rear of motor.

Yes check to see if your water inlet or outlet is pluged up or cavity

Water level should be up to the bottom of the saddle assembly in your container.I had a 35 Evinrude,submerged the intakes but not the impeller housing and destroyed a new impeller.

thank you for you responses, bought new impeller, will install this weekend, its "only" 52 years old, so i guess its due for a new one!
