I have a '59 Johnson 18hp model FDL13 electric start. The wiring harness that plugs into the motor is missing. I have been unable to find a replacement and some have suggested that I just wire it direct. I have no idea how to do that. What kind of a switch, choke button, kill button, how to figure out the wiring schematic etc. I also have a 9 1/4 x 11 prop on this motor that I would like to trade for a 9x9 or 9x10. Any ideas? Help Paul!

Try tcoutboard.com for that harness. I'm betting they have one. You can probably also get a prop from them for a pretty good price.

You could wire it direct, but it's much cleaner if you use the original plug-in harness. The outboard's worth more with the original, as well.
