'59 Evinrude Sportwin, 10Hp: Got this motor earlier this week for $150. I tried for 3 flippin' hours today to get the powerhead off this motor and no go. I had to drill out 4 of the 5 mounting screws because they all snapped off. The powerhead looks like it might have overheated, not sure, haven't been with OB's that long. It also looks like there might be some sort of sealer or gasket maker on the powerhead base, it's hard to tell. All I know is, it will not come off the exhaust housing, it is on there for good. I even pounded it with a 3lb mallet and some heavy duty rubber pads, and no go. Any ideas? Thanx in advance for any help.

Re: '59 Sportwin Powerhead Won't Come Off!!!!!! help please

Okay, I found that I had not removed 2 nuts on the topside of the powerhead. Fortunately, I had ordered a new pan because the original is highly damaged; so in order to remove the nuts I cut the old pan in half. I bought open/closed end wrenches with moveable necks but still couldn't get to the nuts. Can anyone tell me how I am going to get these to nuts on the powerhead when it is time to mount it to the exhaust leg?

Tch. You need the special wrench. Or heat a cheap one red hot and bend it.

That's the kinda wrench I was looking for but couldn't find it. Found a set with floating necks but they have a ratchet in head and take up too much space, won''t fit in the opening where the nut is. Thanx much for the picture. Will definitely find them before I put it all back together!
