597ci HD DI vs Elite-5 DSI

Considering these 2, both about the same price.
Humminbird? 597ci HD DI or Lowrance? Elite-5 DSI

Mostly fishing freshwater with some bays and harbors once in a while.

not married to any brand myself.

I know the lowrance does not have traditional sonar(down scan only) but many people that have bought it say they dont miss it.

Ive searched here and other places, but they are both still newer units and not alot of real reviews out yet.

any help is appreciated

Im sorry, was rushing to get to lunch when I posted,

I meant it does not have traditional sonar, it only has the down scan imaging (DSI). The bird has the down imaging (DI) and the traditional sonar frequency.

While DI is good for detail on structure, 2D sonar is still superior for fish locating.
