Suggestions are:

1. Get a manual for your engine.
2. Under Search at the to of the page enter chrysler water pump (or something like it). Read until you get sleepy.
3. Plan on replacing the water pump and rebuilding the carb.
4. Do not run it again until you have purged every drop of old fuel in the system and have fresh pre-mix.

Good luck,

Howard

Have sold the service manual but I have an original parts catalog for your Canadian made 1974 5 HP #54BB It give an exploded view of each component, part name and order numbers. Also includes specifications, lube requirements and special adjustment chart. 14 pages in very good condition $7.50 (includes S/H within the USA.)
Email:linda@nu-z.net

Waterbug, the manual you need is Clymers #750.

Ditto on purging the old fuel and above all don't run it until you [at least], inspect the water pump.

I have a 5hp-6.6 hp and a 9.9hp Chryslers and with a little TLC they all run pretty good. Good luck with yours. Happy Boating. Hal

Your not going to have a stream of water out the back, Just a slight spitting of water out the exhaust ports.
NO4NJNK
