5hp Mariner

I just purchased a 5hp Mariner serial number 6e3 5 118293. Two questions:

1. What year is it?
2. The steering is tight. What do I need to do to loosen it up? I assume something needs to either be loosened or lubricated.

should be 1982. there should be some grease nipples, look around swivel of motor

Thank for the reply. I check the Mariner site for the year. But it was confusing to get the year from there site. http://www.marinshopen.se/guide/mp/marguide.htm in German was simpler to understand.

I looked for grease fitting but I don't see any. There's a wing nut that I've loosened. It will not come all the way out. I assume that's by design. I may upload pictures later today. But I don't see any way to add luberation.

Anybody got a book on this motor?
