Hi All,
New to the forum, thanks in advance for any help.
I bought a Pursuit Denali 2460 with a MX 6.2 MPI Horizon engine in it and a Bravo 3 outdrive. 175 hours on the engine, which is a replacement (original spec for the boat is 5.7, engine and drive replaced in 2007-2008). I've noticed the idle on the boat is not constant - it will fluctuate slightly by 20-50 rpm with the bottom to top end of the range being about 100rpms. Once it gets above about 100 rpms running there's really no fluctuation, running at 3100 or so rpm and 22-224 mph there's maybe 10 rpm of fluctuation. I put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and idle fuel pressure was a bit high (just over 50 vs 43 spec). Leads me to believe there could be a clogged fuel injector. Am I right? Or is fluctuation like that normal?
Other things I've noticed:
When performing hole shot it feels like the engine is struggling and maybe misfiring, but if I accelerate gradually and get her on plane I don't have that same symptom. Also, WOT is 4000 rpm and should be I think closer to the 4800-5200 range. Are those symptoms of clogged fuel injectors? or something else?
I ordered new plugs, cables, dist cap and plan on doing a compression test when I swap all those parts (I tend to throw parts at problems). Should these help?
