I need to find out what size of hole to cut in the deck, for a 6" deck plate, 6 1/2", 6 5/8, 6 3/4"?

The instructions I've found say to use the deck plate for a template,,, but none of the local suppliers (BPS, West Marine) have a 6" deck plate in stock. I need to order one online, but in the mean time, I want to get the hole cut so I can replace a bad anti-siphon fuel fitting and use the boat this weekend. I don't want to cut a hole, then find it's too small and then have to enlarge it another 1/4". It's easier to setup my router and hole jig to the proper size, than have to enlarge it free-hand. I might still get hosed as I doubt all deck plates have the same installation diameter....

BTW, this is an aluminum hull boat so water getting under the deck temporarily isn't an issue, and I'll make a temp plate to cover the hole so the kids don't fall in. :D

Thanks, Dan

Depends on the manufacturer, they're not standard. Call the one you choose and ask about the hole size ... ;)

Personally I would never cut a hole if I didn't have the item I was going to stick in it in hand.

But I'm sure if you Googled the exact item you would come up with the correct dimension.
