6 horse evenrude won't run????

Haven't run it in a lot of years. I put gas to it and nothing. A squirt of starting fluid and it starts but won't run. I'm guessing not getting gas.. where next?

1. lose starting fluid

2. Take apart carb and soak in cleaner, blow it out with air , and replace parts and gaskets from carb kit

3. go boating

I have never rebuilt a carb before....Is it a big deal??

If you but a service manual it should guide you through it

Now if you never fix anything it may not be best to DIY it
