Couldn't find the 64H9E in any of my stuff, but that means nothing.
Need to know if it has a magneto or points system.

Points? pull flywheel and clean the points.

Magneto? outboardignitiondotcom has test procedures for your motor.

The gap would be 020 if it has regular points.
Your motor may have a breakerless CD ignition but it can be equipped with points as it is from 1979. .

Usually the flywheel has the points settings embossed on the top??
You don't need to take them off to clean them.
Use a piece of 150 grit sandpaper folded in half and insert between the points.

Ok so i pulled the flywheel off today & yes it does have points 2 sets & they was some corrision i cleaned both sets rechecked setting seemed ok but i still have no fire at the plugs could the plugs be bad from sitting, is there a way to test coils,& just to be sure when setting the points do u set them on the high side like u would in the older cars with points

Yes you set the points at the highest part of the camcurve.
If you have a VOM, disconnect the condensers and measure over the points and check soo there is continuity through the points when they are closed.
You should read about 0,0-0,3 Ohms.

You could check the ignitioncoils by measure the resistence at prime and secondary side.
Prims side should read about 0,5-1,5 Ohms and secondary side about 5-7 kOhms.

You might have to replace if the sandpaper didn't work.
Maybe a points file?
They sell parts here but the link seems to have disappeared??
Valley sales in Prudenville, Mi.

No Title

I have a 1970 35 HP Chrysler with the Magneto Sys that could be similar to yours. I changed the points when I purchased in 1984 due to my old habits and needs on my 1968 VW and 60-70s cars/trucks. The points have not needed changing since and I doubt they needed changing then. They did not have the ?Old Typical Burned Points? Pitted Indication. Where you could see metal had burned from one contact to the other.

BUT!! They did need cleaning with fine Emory or Point?s File when I noticed sluggish/hesitating. I learned I was causing some of that filing due to adding more than a drop of oil to the point?s oil wick. It caused a vapor or light oil look over Dist Plate.

Oops! As Nordin suggested, Ck for continuity between contacts with an Ohmmeter or Etc.. Any Lint, Grit or Etc can block the points open as they appear closed. Plus, clean for lint or grit after cleaning/dressing.
