I have a 2003 mercury bigfoot efi 4 stroke i checked the oil and it is a little on the milky side. I did some searching and some suggest it may be a stuck (open) thermostat i checked it and its working properly. Also motor has never overheated. This is the first i have seen of the milky oil any ideas would be great. Thanks Jerry

Very common and not good problem on 4 strokes....Google oil in water outboards and you can read some interesting articles about it...major flaw in how they are built.. I have a 115 2005 that I purchased from a Johnson dealer who didn't know about the problem and sold the motor for $500....It is not a head gasket problem on this motor nor is it a therm problem...you cannot idle these motors and troll with them as they don't get hot enough to burn off the moisture created..Go figure that is why you have a 4 stroke to troll and not have any issues....I have the same 115 Merc which is a Yamaha on my pontoon boat and have not had the problem because it gets run hard pushing the 32ft Tracker..Heat is the answer and running them good and hard is the solution....again read up about it and get that water out ASAP....
