60 HP MERCURY UP GRADE?

I have a 1996 mercury 60 hp i was told that i may be able to put 75 hp carbs on it to gain more hp I put 9.9 jets in my 7.5 mercury kicker and it works great ...same power head diffrent carbs is it the same on the 60 and 75?

Hi there, Lucks<br /><br />I'm no expert with the wrench, but I don't think the 60 and 75 have the same powerhead. Others more knowledgable may correct me if I'm wrong, but I think getting 75 horses out of your 60 would be extremely difficult and costly in the long run. You may be better off just buying a 75 if that is what you want.

thanks i was hoping that it was the 60 and 75 not the 75-90
