60 HP TLRD will only run with choke on

I just bought a pontoon boat yesterday and it has a Yamaha 2005 60 HP TLRD on it. The engine only has 60 hours of runtime. When I remove the engine cover, it looks brand new. The problem is that I can only get it to run on choke. While it's running on choke, if I flip the fuel switch to 'normal run', it stalls. From what the owner says, he hasn't run it for about 2 years. Do you think I need to clean the carbs? Is that an easy job? It looks like I have one carb per cylinder though, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Easy job, but a bit time-consuming. Try to just drain the carbs and use some carb cleaner while running at high revs. Might work as a quick fix.

A motor that sat up for 2 years needs the fuel tank drained and fresh fuel put in along with carbs pulled apart and cleaned along with the rest of the fuel system other wise you will be dumping trash and bad gas into your clean carbs after firing it back up.
Also make sure you do the link and sync after reinstalling the carbs to adjust everything properly.

Spraying cleaner will not fix this and may end up hurting the pistons, so will running any cylinder lean from plugged carb passages. So fix properly before running any more

Ain't no short cuts to it. Do as the above post states.

Do you think I still need to drain the gas if I have a water separator installed? What do I do with the drained gas?
