Hey guys. I'm new here. And new to boating.

So recently I just revived an old 60 Hp Johnson from the dead. It ran great for a few days. New fuel pump. And a new prop.

So basically I was taking it out today, I got to the open water, decided to give my boat a little more throttle, almost immediately, the boat reved up very very high and the prop didn't move anymore.

So as of now, my motor doesn't spin the prop when it's in gear. It just revs up harder.

It looks like there is bubbles coming out of prop.

I'm an electrician, not a mechanic, so any advice is helpful!!!

With the motor in gear does the prop spin freely when You turn it by hand?

Props usually spin one way only in F gear. The other direction (ccw) they turn making a clicking noise....it's the overrun clutch in the lower unit.

You are confusing me. You said that the prop will not drive your boat but you can turn it one direction by hand in F gear.....that part is ok assuming that direction is ccw.
Then you said that it doesn't turn at all in N. Do you mean that if you grasp the prop in N it doesn't turn? Or do you mean if the engine is running in N it doesn't turn. The former is a huge problem. The latter is normal.
---------------
On the bottom of the large casting in front of the prop (lower unit gearbox) is a drain screw. Drain out a teaspoon full of oil, take a picture of it and post so we can see it.

Then remove your prop nut and on your prop make a scribe mark or an ink from a Sharpie magic marker, from the prop shaft out to the outside of the hub. Get the oil posted here before you go back out and let us look at it. Then if that is ok, take your boat back to the water and attempt to do what you did when you had the problem. Then go back to the dock and take your prop nut back off and check the line your drew. If it is no longer a straight line your hub is slipping and you need a new hub or new prop.

Sounds good. Sorry, I'm not to knowledgeable in boats.

I'll be out
Tomorrow, I'll post it all.
