60hp 98suzuki 4 stroke water pump linkage

How and where do you disconnect the shift linkage to be able to drop the lower unit to change out the water pump. Cant see it in the book.

Hmmm. I wonder what book you refer to, Erich.<br /><br />It is the first step in removal in Section 9 of the Service Manual.<br /><br />Just above the gearcase, on the front of the assembly, the shift rod is connected to the clutch cam by a clip and a pin. Remove these and the shifting linkage is free.<br /><br />If you are referring to the Owner's Manual you need a Service Manual.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Is there a cover over the clip and pin? I'm at sea right now and cant look at it but I dont remember seeing anything accessable on the front.<br /> Thanks Erich

The joint is sort of tucked in under the steering pivot assembly, Erich, but it is not covered.<br /><br />Repeat: You need the Service Manual.
