I have a 2003 Merc 4 Stroke 60hp. It has a 16inch pitch 3blade propellor. The motor is on an 18ft flat bottom aluminum boat (60in bottom). This weekend I noticed oil coming out of the exhaust port (I think it is the exhaust port). The port is on the back of the motor just above or below the water outtake. The oil level is a little low but is in the operating range. Anyone have any suggestions; is this normal? The motor probably has 10-12hrs. On the other hand, is this propellor appropriate? Could I put on a larger pitch? Would this add some speed. Also thinking of adding a jack plate; any suggestions? I don't have a tach. Will probably ask dealer to add on this week when I bring the motor in.

First of all you need to back that boat into the lake and hope it sinks. Then collect on your insurance and go buy yourself a good boat and motor. Get rid of that piece of crap.

Your engine will use a little oil as you are breaking in the motor. It takes time to seat the rings properly. Also see the response to your other post quoted below and found HERE
There was an update listed for the 60hp Fourstrokes about the adapter plate bolts breaking off or coming loose.

Also..check the T-stat to see if the engine is running rich.

TMD
@ mrch that is a heck of a way to introduce yourself to this forum with your first post being above! The Merc 60 is a good engine.
