Hello!

I have referenced many posts on and off over the last few years, but this is my first time posting. I am a DIYer but fairly new to boats. This was a brother-in-law deal and it has been a great little "Memory Maker" for my young family. I like to say, "She's ugly, but she's mine, not the banks." :) However, I'm ready to change that and want to spiff her up a mite.

I have been reading some of the sticky posts and I've gotten a lot of good ideas. I plan to read more before I begin asking questions, but thought I'd go ahead and post my project as a starting place.

There is a LOT to do but here's my attack plan:
  • First things first - install my new Garmin EchoMAP since this is a use-while-restore project.
  • Restore the luster of the old yellow paint. (I may move on from here, for now, but I just read Woodonglass' post about painting for under $100 and that got me thinking I may repaint sooner than later).
  • Fix Windshield (plexiglass is broken on one side, foggy on the other, etc)
  • Add a swim platform or two and a telescopic ladder. I plan to build my own out of wood (maybe red oak) and use tung oil rather than a seal coat.
  • Redo interior
    • Paint sidewalls.
    • Run new wiring to front and install lights, dashboard etc.
    • Possibly put bench seats behind the front two captain seats. (It has 4 stationary captain chairs now). Bench seats would give me much needed storage/organization.
Well, that list should keep me busy over the next few years... :)

Any ideas or tips are welcome!

THANKS!

James

P.S. I'm having a hard time really determining if this is actually a 62 model. It doesn't have a tag so I only know (think) it is a Medallion based on others with the same boat saying theirs is.
