63 18 hp information on the motor

i got a 63 evinrude 18 hp model #18302l.

i bought it yesterday for a 100 dollars.
im a mechanic for diesel and cars and no nuthan about this engine. i dont no the proper mix ratio wat oil to put in the lower or anything. ok there are to issus that i need to start off with. one. the a whole on the top left side of the carb that fuel keeps cuming out of wen i prim it or and wen its trying to run. it dont hardly run but for round 45 sec. i have a feeling thats wat the dam thing runs like ****.

second. i dont no to much about the cooling system. i dont no were it comes in or were it comes out.

anything anyone can tell me about this engine would be so great , this things starting to hurt my head an i think i riped my self off buying this thing.

That's a great 'lil engine. It's officially 24:1 but it changed the next year to 50:1 so some folks mix it leaner. There's a thread at the top of the forum called secret info (or something like that) read the awakening a sleeping outboard part. It will answer most of your questions. If not, then repost the specific question.

A hundred bucks ain't bad. If it's in decent condition, it'll be worth the investment to get it tuned up good and get it running top notch. You'll want to check everything over to make sure it's up to parr. The ignition system, impeller and the lower unit, should be checked over real good. These three things are the biggest trouble spots.:cool:
