63 Mrec 60 6hp. Stop Button

Does the stop button on the older Merc 60 twin complete a circuit or open one to shut the motor off. I'm re-building one and the stop button area is damaged and I can't tell. I know you can stop it by choking, but want to restore to original condition. Thanks in advance.

Normally open.-------closed for stop.------------Rebuilt one of those 6 hp blocks myself last winter.--------Nice piece of machinery.

Yep, the switch closes to kill the motor. One set of points is effectively grounded through the other as one set is always closed.
