This Speedifour V4 75 hp starts first or second try when started the first time of the day but after it warms up it won't even fire when trying to re-start. After running it for 5-10 minutes it usually dies after idling a few minutes or when it goes into gear after stopping to change tube riders. One run a day is unacceptable these days!

Does the engine turn over slow or it just doesn't seem to fire?

DJ, the engine turns over as normal, it just doesn't fire. Even after leaving it to cool a few hours with the cowl off it doesn't go, not until the next day. After trying to start it with every imaginable combination of choke and warm-up lever it leaves gas in the water from the exhaust when the motor is tipped up. The last time this happened I immediately pulled the plugs and found the top two were wet and the bottom two were dry.

DJ, I took her out tonight and was rough to start. It has poor power out of the hole but seemed to run good once I got the revs up and planing. I got it good and warm, stopped and idled. Sprayed a small squirt of gas down one carb barrel and it stammered. I turned it off and immediately tried to start it with no luck. Pulled the plugs and checked for spark. Kind of hard to see in the bright daylight but I think the top plugs have weak spark. Again, they're fouled and the lower are dry and tan colored. This is a distributor magneto breaker point ignition.<br />I noticed condensation on the outside of the silencers. Is this normal? It is hot and humid here today.

It seems that the upper cylinders are not firing or burning clean but the lower cylinders do. Since this has one 2-barrel carb and two sets of points with one condensor and one coil, I'm thinking one set of points are the problem. Is there a way to check how good the points are? I've cleaned them and gapped them but I don't have an ignition tester.
