64 Evinrude 5.5 Model#5402b ser# e03879 replace water pump impellor.

Hi! All,
Would like to replace waterpump impeller. Does anyone know if the power head has to be unbolted to get to the driveshaft shift connector?
I don't want to just start taking it apart and ruin something. Any help would be appreciated. It does not have a window on the leg.Thankyou much John. I also have a 62 seaking 5 HP model#gg18736 that does not have the window either. I want to replace that impeller also. THANKS

Pretty simple actually, remove the fuel pump, controls to the magneto, 5 short and 1 long screw (hold the powerhead on). The powerhead pull up and off, revealing the spring assembly and the shift rod. Replace the top gasket on the spring assembly and the o-ring in the carbon seal. Remember how it goes back together (the spring) glue the top gasket down as well. Undo the shift rod. Pull the 4 bolts from the gearcase and drop it down. Remove the water pump and inspect, you'll know what to replace based on condition. You will also need a powerhead base gasket when reassembling.

Seaking- no clue.

I added to the 5 screw and 1 screw, they hold the powerhead on, forgot to say that.
