I bought an old boat with the Johnson 90 on it, later I found that the shifter is from a newer Johnson. The wiring is a bit different. The cable that runs from the control box to the shifter has been cut right at the shifter. The newer shifter has the complete cable but has a plug on the end. The old cable has no plug and is clamped where it enters the engine case And the wires just connect to the various engine components. Would this shifter work? Or are there after market alternatives?
