I've spent over $700.oo on boat shops, when I take it out same problem . They tell me they've rebuilt carbs, replaced head gasket, replaced fuel line & filter, spark plugs & wires.they want me to bring it back and they'll try something else.( they do try to charge me more money) Can anyone help PLEASE!!!

What have they done for the $700? It would help to know what steps have already been done before trying to advise you where to begin.
Backlash

If your motor is a 3 cylinder 65hp, it doesnt have a 3rd carb. That might be the problem, you mechanic added a carb.

On the side of your motor is a fuel filter, just in front of the fuel pump, take the 5/16 screw out of the top of it and see it the filter is dirty. Be careful though, the little screens are kind of delicate. Also if #3 is not getting fuel, you might have a reed problem.

If you've spent money getting the head gasket replaced - get your money back. Your motor doesn't have a head gasket! The cylinder heads are cast into the motor block!

Have you looked at the plugs after running? If the top one isn't getting fuel, it would be running "lean" and will appear much lighter than the other plugs. If it's darker, then it's likely a spark issue...
- Scott

Have you checked the ign. timing? I fought this prob on a 3 cyl 650 that I bought. would idle ok and run ok for a while then slow down. found # 1 cyl was quitting. Found the timing belt one notch off. Totally retimed from belt on and now runs great. Allen
